Automated topics identification in media monitoring

A competition on Media Monitoring Multilabel Classification

The value of media monitoring lies in selecting, categorising and delivering the right content to clients in real time. As quality and time are paramount for having a real competitive advantage, an automated annotation process would allow media monitors to expand their portfolio of monitored media.

Driven by the vision to build innovative solutions for media monitors, DataScouting is investing in machine learning technologies, integrating them into its existing media monitoring platforms (MediaScouting Print & MediaScouting Broadcast). To this end, Datascouting has opened a call for researchers to participate in a competition for building multi-label classifiers for the automated annotation of media articles into topics, which will support the work of human annotators by suggesting a list of all topics by order of relevance or even automate the annotation process for media and / or categories that are easier to predict.

The winner of the competition will be announced at the 15th International Conference on Web Information System Engineering (WISE 2014), in Thessaloniki, Greece, in October 12-14.
