DataScouting has signed the work of inventory, cataloguing and transportation of the “Koventarios” Municipal Library of Kozani (KMLK), one of the most important, historic libraries in Greece and in the Balkans, which was founded in the second half of the 17th century.
The collections of KMLK include, besides the newest editions (after 1912), rare incunabula, manuscripts, codes, maps that require special treatment and are making the work especially demanding.
At the press conference to mark the signing of the agreement, the general secretary of the Municipality of Kozani, Mr Vasilis Bougiotopoulos and the President of the Municipal Library and Deputy Mayor of Culture, Mr Panayiotis Dimopoulos said it was “a historic day” for the existence and the future of the library.
“Having completed significant works at major academic libraries, DataScouting has again undertaken a nodal work. I am especially happy that our company will help KMLK house its remarkable and unique collections at its new ‘home’”, said Mrs Afrodite Malliari, who is in charge of the work and Library & Information Systems manager at DataScouting.
The work is expected to be completed in six months.
